Arsenal scored five goals in an away match in the Champions League for just the third time against Sporting and the first time since October 2008, a 5-2 win against Fenerbahce. The Gunners were on a five-game winless run away from home in the Champions League (D2, L3) while failing to score in each of the last 4. Five different players scored for Arsenal against a team that not long ago beat City 4-1. Gabriel scored his first goal in the competition while Bukayo Saka scored and provided an assist and Kai Havertz netted his 100th goal in his club career across all competitions. 

Arsenal accumulated an xG of 3.89, their most on record for a match in the competition (since 2013-14), as they moved up to seventh in the Champions League table. Mikel Arteta's 250th in charge of Arsenal in all competitions was also a happy one as they dismantled a dangerous looking Forest side to emerge victorious and open up a gap. Captain Odegaard was back in the starting lineup for the second time round, and he perfectly rounded a performance, which showed how much Arsenal missed his absence. 

Tomas Soucek and Aaron Wan-Bissaka scored as West Ham secured an impressive win at Newcastle to ease the pressure on manager Julen Lopetegui. The Spanish coach replaced David Moyes in the summer but had endured a difficult start with just three wins from the Hammers' first 11 games. 

He was allowed to spend around £125m in the summer to reshape the Hammers squad but both the performances on the pitch and the results this season had been concerning. A lack of goals had been their main issue, with West Ham among the lowest scorers in the Premier League prior to Monday's game, but there were glimpses of promise in this display. West Ham have lost their last two home London derbies in the Premier League, going down 2-0 against Fulham and 3-0 against Chelsea. They last lost three in a row in December 2019, while they last did so without scoring in December 2008 – both runs included defeat to Arsenal. 

West Ham have earned seven points from their last three Premier League home games (W2 D1), as many as they had from their previous nine at the London Stadium (W1 D4 L4). Following their 2-0 win at Newcastle last time out, West Ham are looking to pick up consecutive Premier League victories for the first time since March. Meanwhile, they could keep three consecutive clean sheets for the first time since a run of four in December/January last season, the third game of which was a 2-0 win over Arsenal.

Player to watch out for

Since making his Premier League debut in February 2020, only Jarrod Bowen (46) and Michail Antonio (41) have scored more top-flight goals for West Ham than Tomas Soucek (30). Only Gabriel Magalhães (16) and James Ward-Prowse (15) have scored more goals from set-pieces (excluding penalties) than the Hammers midfielder (14) during this period. Soucek has scored four Premier League goals against Newcastle. It is the most he has scored against any side in the competition and they have all been to put the Hammers into the lead.
