The final bout of 2023 is expected to be an entertaining one as two out of form teams clash for survival. Tamil Thalaiva were impressive at the beginning of the season, but they seem to have taken the wrong highway midway. They have lost 5 matches consecutively which has pushed them almost to the bottom of the points table. The Bengaluru Bulls have not been consistent at all. They have struggled in every game. Even the matches that they have won, have been primarily due to the breakdown of their opposition.

Hence the final southern derby of 2023 might be fun to watch, as both teams will leak a lot of points. Tamil Thalaiva looked good in their last match against the Gujarat Giants. They matched their opponents in every move only to be stunned by the last minute all-out that they conceded. The margin of defeat was 3 points.

The Bengaluru Bulls have themselves to blame as they lost to the UP Yodha by 1 point. They had scripted a perfect trap for Pardeep Narwal. Defender Vishal was ruthless against the UP raiders. But the Bulls conceded 2 all-outs in a span of 10 minutes in to the second half. They lost a match due to their tactical immaturity. Hence this contest becomes very important for both teams.

Tamil Thalaivas Preview

The Tamil Thalaiva finds itself in the 11th spot in the points table. The first month of the league has been a mixed bag for the Thalaiva as they started on a positive note. They defeated the mighty Dabang Delhi in their first match. The Thalaiva fans were elated to see their team getting such a brilliant start. Their major concern has been drop in raiding intensity. At the beginning of the season, it looked as if Tamil Thalaiva had the best balance among all teams. Raiders Narender Kandola and Ajinkya Pawar were complementing each other. Captain Sagar and Sahil Gulia were unstoppable in defense.

But the absence of Sagar in the last few matches has hurt them badly. Also Narender Kandola has been out of form. Hence the Thalaiva has used the services of raider Himanshu. Too many changes during the match has also hurt them. Raiding efficiency is about 37% for the Thalaiva while their success rate in team tackles is about 38%. Unfortunately the men in yellow have conceded 307 points which is next to the Bengaluru Bulls. Thalaiva has also conceded 9 all-outs in 8 matches which does not help their cause. They do not have any raider in the top 10 while all-rounder Sahil Gulia has executed 28 successful tackles in 8 matches. He tops the list of defenders along with Shubham Shinde of Bengal Warriors.

The Tamil Thalaiva has a dismal record against the Bengaluru Bulls. They have won just 2 out of their 12 encounters. They have defeated the Bulls just once in their last 6 meetings. Hence the final league contest of 2023 becomes very crucial for the men in yellow. They are placed 11th behind the Bulls in the points table. They used the services of Iranian defender Amrhossian in the last match and it proved fruitful as he earned 3 tackle points. The Tamil Thalaiva need to stick with a particular combination. In trying to utilize all their raiding resources, they tend to give very less mat time to their youngsters. They have used the combo of Narender and Ajinkya Pawar. They can try using the pair of Himanshu Singh and Jatin. Instead of surprising their opponents, the Thalaiva seems to confusing itself into submission. This will be the toughest match for Tamil Thalaiva.

Bengaluru Bulls Preview

The Bulls have been through a disappointing month in season 10 as they are placed 10th in the points table after playing 9 matches. They were totally out of sorts in their first few games. Such was the confusion among their team, that they could not challenge their opponents in most games. Fortunately, they have starting getting their act together since the last week of December. The Bulls have won 3 out of their last 5 matches which should give some hope to their fans.

Their last match against the UP Yodha was terrible. They had a perfect plan to regulate Pardeep Narwal and it worked. Left cover Vishal stealthily attacked Pardeep and tackled him with perfect waist holds. The Bulls kept Pardeep Narwal out of action in the first 10 minutes of the match. They matched the Yodha in every move until the last 5 minutes of the first half. The Bulls were left with just 1 player at half time as they trailed by 2 points. Former champions had a forgetful second half as they lost intensity. Though they scored 6 additional raid points as compared to UP, they conceded 2 all-outs which led them to panic and they lost the match by just 1 point.

Bengaluru Bulls have been off-color in season 10. They have been tactically undone by most of their opponents. They struggled to beat the Telegu Titans. In an earlier encounter they got thrashed by the Puneri Paltan. Hence their fans are wondering what will happen to the Bulls in the 2024. Raiding has been a major problem for the Bulls. Vikash Kandola has not fired on all cylinders while Bharat Hooda has been just above average. Bharat has scored 70 raid points in 9 matches which includes just 3 Super 10’s. Abhishek Singh and Neeraj Narwal haven’t got enough time to settle and hence their performance has been disappointing. The Bulls used raider Sushil in the last game and he scored 8 raid points. But will they use him more often?

Bengaluru Bulls have an immaculate record against the Tamil Thalaiva. They have won 10 out of their 12 encounters with the Thalaiva. The Bulls will be eager to make the 50th match of season 10 a memorable one.

Welcome to the last league match of 2023. As everybody around the world gathers to welcome the new-year, these two teams will fight it out one last time in 2023. The Tamil Thalaiva is placed 11th in the points table, but they look a better side than the Bulls. The men in yellow need to use their raiders intelligently. Narender Kandola and Ajinkya Pawar will be used in the first half but none of them will score a Super 10. Defenders Sagar and Sahil Gulia will trouble the Bengaluru raiders. If Amirhossein and Left cover Mohit as able to resonate, they will earn enough tackle points.

The Bengaluru Bulls have to be careful with their tactics. If Bharat Hooda is not able to score a Super 10, than the Bulls are in trouble. None of their raiders will be able to score a Super 10. The Bulls will follow the wait and watch strategy. They will respond depending on how the Thalaiva plays in the first half. But the second half will be full of unforced errors which will be quite entertaining. Defenders Surjeet and Vishal will be crucial for the Bulls. Left corner Aman and captain Sourabh Nandal will be aggressive in the first half but one of them may break-down as the match progresses. Overall this will be one of the most memorable match of 2023.

Tamil Thalaiva will win.
