Brisbane Heat Sign Major Partnership With Ward

Queensland Cricket and the Brisbane Heat are set to embark on a successful journey following the announcement of a two-year sponsorship deal with Ward, a first-time partner. Ward, a prominent civil and environmental engineering contractor, was revealed as the match day partner for the WBBL Heat’s highly anticipated Weber Women’s Big Bash League match at the Gabba on Saturday, 9 November.

The event, known as the WBBL Gabba Smash and presented by Ward, will see the Heat face off against the defending champions, the Adelaide Strikers, in a prime-time night match—marking the first time the WBBL Heat will play under the lights at the Gabba.

This season, Ward’s branding will also be featured on the playing apparel of both the WBBL Heat and Queensland Fire women’s teams, marking the company’s first foray into cricket sponsorship. The Fire will kick off their Women’s National Cricket League campaign at Allan Border Field, starting with matches against NSW on Friday, 27 September, and Sunday, 29 September, followed by fixtures against Western Australia on 3 and 6 October.

Ward, established in Sydney in 1973, has been a sponsor of the Sydney Roosters in the NRLW since 2018. Queensland Cricket and Brisbane Heat CEO Terry Svenson expressed his enthusiasm for the new partnership with Ward.

“The WBBL Heat and Queensland Fire have been exceptional role models in promoting women’s sport, and we are thrilled to welcome Ward as a partner,’’ Svenson said. “Ward’s history of supporting sport aligns perfectly with our values, and we’re excited to attract a large crowd for the Heat’s WBBL game at the Gabba. We look forward to collaborating with Ward to make this a standout event for Queensland Cricket.”

Ward Group CEO Julia Ward also shared her excitement about the partnership

“After opening our Brisbane office earlier this year, we sought the right opportunity to engage with women’s sport in Queensland,” she said. “Queensland Cricket has provided us with an incredible platform, not only for brand exposure but also for supporting women’s cricket across the state.”

“Ward is thrilled to back the WBBL Heat, Queensland Fire, and the various regional and community initiatives led by Queensland Cricket, which aim to further grow the women’s game. We’re also proud to be part of the Queensland Cricket Foundation, helping make the sport more accessible to disadvantaged groups,” she added.

The Brisbane Heat will host four WBBL home games in total, with one match at the Gabba and three at Allan Border Field. The Heat will face the Renegades on October 30th, the Stars on November 22nd, and the Sixers on November 24th, at Allan Border Field.
