Dhruv Jurel Makes History: Matches MS Dhoni’s record for Most Catches in Duleep Trophy Innings

In a standout performance at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Dhruv Jurel, the India A wicketkeeper, matched former India captain MS Dhoni’s record for the most catches by a wicketkeeper in an innings during the Duleep Trophy. Jurel grabbed seven catches in the second innings while playing against India B, helping India A restrict their opponents to 184.

Jurel’s achievement puts him on par with Dhoni, who had set the record back in the 2004-05 season. At that time, Dhoni, representing East Zone, broke the previous record held by Sunil Benjamin (6 catches) by taking seven catches against Central Zone.

Jurel Equals Dhoni’s Record

Jurel's catches resulted in the dismissals of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Musheer Khan, Sarfaraz Khan, Nitish K Reddy, Sai Kishore, and Navdeep Saini. This remarkable effort ties him with Dhoni and Benjamin for the most dismissals (7) by a wicketkeeper in an innings in Duleep Trophy history.

Interestingly, while Dhoni and Jurel each took seven catches, Sunil Benjamin achieved his record with six catches and one stumping while playing for Central Zone in the 1973 Duleep Trophy final against North Zone.
