IPL 2025 - Rishabh Pant Appointed as the New Lucknow Super Giants Captain

India’s stylish wicket-keeper batsman - Rishabh Pant, has been appointed as the new captain of Lucknow Super Giants. He will be leading the team for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League.
The announcement came on Monday as the team arranged a press conference to make the important statement. Owner of Lucknow Super Giants - Sanjiv Goenka, purchased the former Delhi Capitals skipper during the IPL 2025 mega auction as their former skipper KL Rahul was released from the team.
"We start with new hopes and aspirations. And most importantly, new confidence. I wanted to introduce you all to our new captain Rishabh Pant," Goenka said while announcing Pant as the new leader of the team.
Rishabh Pant already carries a huge experience of leading in the Indian Premier League as he has led Delhi Capitals for two seasons. Even after performing exceptionally well in the previous edition of the league, the franchise released the player and made no efforts to hire his services back.
A similar situation was witnessed with KL Rahul while he was leading Lucknow Super Giants since the introduction of the team in IPL 2022. KL Rahul took the team to the playoffs twice but his failure to perform as the leader in the previous season led to the decision of the franchise to part ways.
Rishabh Pant vs KL Rahul - Captaincy Record
KL Rahul is a much more experienced captain when it comes to the Indian Premier League. Before taking on LSG as captain, KL Rahul led Punjab Kings in IPL.
Overall he has been a captain in 64 IPL games and has come out as the winner on 31 fixtures. His current win percentage in IPL stands at 48.43%.
Rishabh Pant, on the other hand, has been a captain in 43 games in IPL and has come out as a winner in 23 games. His win percentage stands at 54.48%. According to the win percentage, Rishabh Pant is ahead of his counterpart KL Rahul. The match prediction of every LSG game will see Pant as the key player for the team.
