Matthew Short Shows Inclination to Lead Australia Against Pakistan

The time has come for Australia to host Pakistan for a 3-match ODI and T20 series. Australia will first face Pakistan in the ODI format with the first fixture scheduled to take place on 4th November. The betting tips and match prediction favour Australia more for the 1st ODI.

Once the ODI series is concluded, the two teams will face each other in the T20 format starting 14th November. One major absentee from the Aussie squad will be their T20 skipper Mitchell Marsh. Marsh is on paternity leave and won’t be available for the 3-match T20 series.

In the absence of Marsh, 28-year-old, Matthew Short has expressed his interest in leading the team in the shortest format of the game. The Adelaide Strikers skipper in the Big Bash League gave a message to the selectors during an interview.

“Yeah, definitely (I’m interested). I’ve done it for a little bit now with the Adelaide Strikers and really enjoyed being involved in making some of the calls. The communication (from selectors) at the moment is just (within) a bit of a leadership group – they still haven’t made up their mind, but if it was me they wanted, I’d definitely put my hand up for it,” said Short to reporters.

Short carries an experience of captainship with Adelaide Strikers. He made his debut for Australia in the T20 international format in 2023 and has been a crucial player for the team.
