The T20 format of cricket has helped multiple associate nations to slowly improve the quality of sport at the ground level. Africa has always been the centre point where multiple teams have produced some of the best cricketers in the past.

In 2023, the beginning of the T20 Africa Continental Cup marked a new beginning in African cricket. The tournament is administrated by International League T20 and June 2023 marked the beginning of the tournament.

Kenya, Botswana, Rwanda and Uganda are the four teams who participated in the first edition of the Continental Cup and in 2024 Botswana, Nigeria, Rwanda and Uganda are the four teams who will be seen playing the shortest format of the game.
