Central Stags, fresh off their Super Smash title win in New Zealand earlier this year, will be looking to ride that wave into the GSL. They’ve got the players to make a deep run.
Captain Tom Bruce will anchor the batting lineup. He was their top scorer in the Super Smash, piling on 339 runs in 10 games with an average of 56.50 and a strike rate of 156.7.
Curtis Heaphy adds some reliability in the middle and is known for handling pressure situations well.
Will Young, Doug Bracewell, and Dean Foxcroft round out a batting group that can go big. Foxcroft brings experience with the bat and also holds a Super Smash career best of 5 for 11 with the ball, taken during his time with the Volts.
Blair Tickner will take charge of the bowling unit. He picked up 16 wickets in nine outings during the Super Smash, though his economy rate sat at 9.21.
Jayden Lennox and Angus Schaw chipped in with 17 wickets between them in that tournament, and both are expected to play important roles again.
Tom Bruce Total Runs Over 21.5 1.85
Tom Bruce, captain of the Central Districts, is in sensational form this year, having smashed 295 runs in 9 T20 matches at an average of 49.16. He's a consistent and clean striker of the ball, adept against both pace and spin. You can confidently bet on Bruce to score over 21 runs in this match – he's one of the safest picks!

Dubai Capitals, winners of the 2025 International League T20, are another fresh addition to the GSL this season. While they won’t have some of their top names from that tournament like David Warner, Shai Hope, or Sam Billings, this team still has enough firepower to trouble any opponent.
Rovman Powell, who captained West Indies in T20s and won the MVP in the ILT20 final, is expected to lead the side. He’s known for dismantling bowling lineups and putting pressure on fielding sides with raw hitting.
Backing him up is Kadeem Alleyne, the aggressive batter from Barbados who hits hard from the start. The middle order is covered with Sri Lankan wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella and Afghanistan’s Sediqullah Atal, who can both switch gears quickly.
Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan brings loads of experience with both bat and ball, adding depth and balance.
Dominic Drakes, with his left-arm pace and know-how, will lead the bowling attack. The squad also includes Farhan Khan from Pakistan, Kaleem Sana-Ur-Rahman from Canada, and Zeeshan Naseer from the UAE. All three add variety and speed.
Shakib Al Hasan and Qais Ahmad will join the Dubai Capitals at GSLT20 as replacements for Keshav Maharaj and Ibrahim Masood
Rovman Powell Total Runs Over 18.5 1.85
Rovman Powell, the Dubai Capitals' skipper, has a decent record at Providence Stadium, with 357 runs in 21 T20s at an average of 23.80. While his recent scores (7, 5, 43, 0, 21) show a slight dip, it's often due to his batting position. Expected at number 4 or 5 today, his big-hitting prowess could shine. Despite being a slightly risky bet, backing Powell to score over 18 runs in these Caribbean conditions against the Central Districts is a worthwhile punt.

The pitch at the Providence Stadium tends to grip a bit, especially early on, which brings spinners into play. Batters need time to adjust before going hard. Shot-making can be tricky if the ball holds up. Fast bowlers who take pace off often do well.
The weather in Guyana is expected to be rainy with a 94% chance of showers throughout the day.

Average Turn
The average score batting first at Providence Stadium is 151. The highest total posted here is Jamaica Tallawahs’ 226-4 against Guyana Amazon Warriors in the 2022 Caribbean Premier League. Usually, though, such high scores are rare at this venue and a target of around 170 will keep the chasing side under pressure.
Total Match Score Under 334.5 1.73
The average total match score in the last 11 Global Super League matches played at Guyana is 273 runs. The overall average total match score in T20s at Providence Stadium is 286 runs. The surface generally is slow and sluggish, making run-scoring difficult. Both teams boast quality pace and spin attacks, so an even contest is expected. A first innings score of 155-165 would be ideal, and we predict the total match score to be under 335 runs.
Dubai Capitals to win the coin toss 1.95
We back the Dubai Capitals to win the coin toss in the 1st match of the Global Super League 2025 season against the Central Districts.
Five of the last six domestic T20 matches held at Providence Stadium have been won by the team batting first. That said, with the weather likely to be rainy, the side winning the toss will look to bowl with DLS possibly working in their favor.
The opening match of the GSL could be a cracker with both Central Stags and Dubai Capitals looking well-balanced. The Stags have a stronger lineup on paper and solid depth across all departments. On the other hand, the Capitals have enough firepower to put up a fight and a few players who know these conditions well, which could make a difference. That said, the Stags seem like the more reliable pick based on experience and overall squad strength.
We are backing Central Stags as the winners of this match.
