Chepauk Super Gillies will clash with Dindigul Dragons in Qualifier 2 at the NPR College Ground this Friday night. The winner moves on to meet IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans in the final on July 6, also at this venue. Chepauk Super Gillies were handed a 79-run defeat in Qualifier 1 by IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans, falling short at just 123 while chasing a steep target of 204. It was their first loss of the season after going unbeaten through the group phase. That kind of result would have hurt, and now Chepauk will be eager to reset as they head into Qualifier 2.
Their batting unit has carried them for most of the campaign. Captain Baba Aparajith has been at the heart of it with 345 runs in eight innings at a strike rate of 155.17. He’s held things together in the middle and will be a central figure again in the next clash.
Vijay Shankar has provided strong support through the middle, collecting 251 runs from eight matches at a brisk rate of 155. He has also chipped in with the ball, taking nine wickets while keeping things under control with an economy of 8.79.
RS Mokit Hariharan and K Aashiq have added more strength to the line-up, both having crossed the 170-run mark so far.
Abhishek Tanwar has been their most effective bowler, collecting 13 wickets with an economy rate of 9.19. M Silambarasan and J Prem Kumar have also delivered with the ball, grabbing 17 wickets between them. The attack struggled in the first Qualifier, but there’s reason to believe Chepauk can bounce back this time.
Baba Aparajith is in sublime form, having scored 345 runs in 8 matches this season at an average of 69, including scores over 30 in seven of those games. In his last 10 T20 matches, he's notched up 434 runs, averaging 62 with a strike rate close to 160. Given his current excellent form and a good record at Dindigul (591 runs in 19 matches at an average of 34.8), we back Aparajith to score over 24 runs in this fixture.

Defending champions Dindigul Dragons are through to Qualifier 2 after brushing aside Trichy Grand Cholas by six wickets in the Eliminator. They look like a team hitting form at just the right moment and could be tough to stop from here.
Shivam Singh has been in prime form with the bat, piling up 300 runs across eight innings at a strike rate of 140. He’s been the most reliable in their top order and will be counted on again here.
Vimal Khumar and skipper Ravichandran Ashwin have added crucial runs on several occasions. Ashwin, in particular, has looked fluent and now has 275 runs in eight games. His match-changing knock of 83 from 48 balls in the Eliminator helped Dindigul chase 141 in just 16.4 overs.
Baba Indrajith and Hunny Saini have chipped in at times, but Dindigul will need more from them to hold firm through the middle.
The bowling attack has been working well as a unit. Sandeep Warrier and Ganeshan Periyaswamy have taken 16 wickets between them, while Ashwin has 12 and Varun Chakaravarthy has picked up nine, keeping things in check and breaking partnerships in key moments.
The skipper of the Dindigul Dragons played a magnificent knock of 83 runs in the last match against the Trichy Grand Cholas. Ashwin has scored 275 runs in 8 matches, averaging 34.37. In the two matches played against the Chepauk Super Gillies this season, he has scored 67 and 57 runs.

The NPR College Ground usually produces a T20 surface that keeps things balanced for both bat and ball. The early part of the innings tends to favor batters, allowing them to score freely. As the game moves on, the pitch tends to slow down and stroke-making becomes harder, especially toward the back end of the innings. Spinners often come into play early and usually take charge in the middle overs. Fast bowlers who mix their pace and avoid being predictable have had better results here.
Looking at the weather in Dindigul for Friday evening, forecasts point to cloudy skies with a brief spell of rain possible in the afternoon.
The average score batting first at the NPR College Ground is 158. The highest total posted at the venue this season is Lyca Kovai Kings’ 203-6 versus Salem Spartans. We reckon anything above 180 will be competitive in this match.
We back the home team Dindigul Dragons to win the coin toss in the qualifier 2 of TNPL 2025 against Chepauk Super Gillies.
Of the six matches held at NPR College Ground this season, the team winning the toss has chosen to bowl first in five of them. With chasing proving to be the better option so far, there's a good chance both captains will follow the same approach in Qualifier 2.
Chepauk Super Gillies and Dindigul Dragons have both looked like serious threats this season and have the tools to beat anyone on their day. That said, based on how they’re shaping up right now, Dindigul have the edge going into this Qualifier. They are last year’s winners, and their bowling unit has delivered across most games. This contest could get tight, but if Dindigul’s bowlers find their rhythm again, as they have most of this tournament, they’ll have the upper hand. If they fall short, Chepauk are more than capable of grabbing a spot in the final.
Dindigul Dragons are our picks for the winners of Qualifier 2.
