Lancashire continue to prop up the North Group in this year's T20 Blast North Group and this match could provide them with their best chance to gain some momentum as they take on a Durham side who are on a poor run of form.
Both teams know that a strong end to the season could see them sneak into the top two or maybe even one of the two best third place positions in the knockout stage but that winning run needs to begin with this game!
For Durham, they beat Derbyshire and Leicestershire to get off to a fine start and make it two wins from three in this year's competition but they have since been easily beaten by both Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire.
As for Lancashire, they need to rebuild after being beaten by Glamorgan from the last ball on Sunday in Blackpool.

Although they took nine wickets at Chester-le-Street on Saturday, Durham were unable to force a victory against Northamptonshire and could not reach their modest target of 146!
Callum Parkinson was the standout bowler, with the spinner returning figures of 3/19 while Ben Raine (2/12) and Nathan Sowter (1/20) also impressed with the ball.
With the bat, Durham must improve although England hopeful Ben McKinney struck a 19-ball 38 against Northamptonshire. Skipper Alex Lees needs to lead from the front while keeper-batter Ollie Robinson is very capable in the middle-order.
Durham need to find a way out of their current losing streak!

Following their embarrassing defeat by 106 runs against arch-rivals Yorkshire on Friday night at Headingley, Lancashire did at least regain some respect when they played Glamorgan, although they were unable to record their second win of the campaign.
There were positives to take from their final ball defeat, but this team which contains plenty of fine T20 players really should be performing better and be further up the table.
Liam Livingstone was at his destructive best against Glamorgan, hitting 81 runs from 37 balls while openers Keaton Jennings and Marcus Harris put on a half-century partnership.
With the ball, Livingstone also starred (3/13), although Luke Wood needs to find his radar after conceding over 100 runs while taking only one wicket across the last two games.

It looks like being quite a cold evening in Chester-le-Street with the temperature maybe even dropping to single figures with cloud and a potential rain shower as well.

The Chester-le-Street pitch has long boundaries so the batters who can be rapid between the wickets will be rewarded. Our prediction is for a par total to be in the region of 165-170.
Bowling looks like being the strongest discipline of both sides at the moment so our prediction is that both sides will choose to bowl first ahead of this match if they win the toss.
Try as they might, Lancashire have not been able to find the right combinations in this year's blast and conficdence will have been shattered after their late defeat against Glamorgan. For that reason, we expect to see a home victory!
