Yaks and Bolts have been eliminated from the playoffs. They will go head-to-head in their last game of the NPL 2025 at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.
Both teams have won just one match each so far. While the Bolts’ win came recently, the Yaks have suffered 4 losses in a row since their last win.
Janakur Bolts chased down 177 runs successfully against the Chitwan Rhinos, led by quality knocks from Maaz Sadaqat and Anil Shah in the top order. However, in the very next game, they finished with just 132 runs while batting first.
Karnali Yaks, on the other hand, will need their bowlers to come good too. They conceded 201 runs in their last outing and picked up just two wickets. Mark Watt and Priyank Panchal are the key players in this batting lineup.
Najibullah Zadran hasn’t lived up to the expectations in the middle order. The batting doesn’t look very promising at the moment, and despite a great variety in the bowling attack, Yaks are failing on that front too.

Karnali Yaks will need a much stronger performance in this match to have any chance of winning. After losing the game while defending a 149-run total, the Yaks went on to concede 201 runs while bowling first in the next game.
Very few bowlers have found success for the Yaks in recent games. In their last match, Nandan Yadav and Mark Watt picked up a wicket each. Whereas, in their 5-wicket loss against Kathmandu Gorkhas, everyone except Nandan Yadav and Pawan Sarraf were wicketless.
Even after William Bosisto was made to sit out the last game, Karnali Yaks had a great variety in the bowling attack. In addition to Nandan Yadav, skipper Sompal Kami, Bipin Sharma, and Mark Watt are the key bowlers to watch out for.
The 19-year-old medium pacer Gulshan Jha has shown some promise and can be a game-changer for Karnali Yaks. Mark Watt is an experienced batter and will be crucial in the top order.
Priyank Panchal and Watt hold the key to a good start for the Bolts. A lot depends on these two, and at least one of them should stay at the crease longer to lay a strong foundation for Janakpur Bolts.
Gulshan Jha is also very handy with the bat lower down the order and can score quick runs at the death. Najibullah Zadran must rise to the occasion and bring his international experience to the fore to lead the fight from the Yaks.

Janakpur Bolts found a new skipper in Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton, as Wayne Parnell was replaced by Sri Lankan batting all-rounder Sangeeth Cooray, who scored an unbeaten 45 runs knock at number 4 in the last match.
Cooray was also impressive with the ball, picking up 3 for 25 runs in his 4 overs. The batting all-rounder will be one to watch out for in this match. Another all-rounder who can deliver a game-changing performance with both bat and ball is opening batter Maaz Sadaqat.
The bowling all-rounder scored 63 off 30 balls in their win over Chitwan Rhinos while chasing 177 runs. He has been among the key wicket-takers for the Bolts and will play a key role with his left-arm orthodox bowling.
Spin bowlers have found most success for the Bolts and will play a key role in this match. Another left-arm orthodox bowler, Sanjay Krishnamurthi, is a crucial figure in this bowling attack, and along with the right-arm offbreak Cooray, will pose a tough challenge to the struggling Yaks.
Aasif Sheikh needs to step up and deliver a good start at the top. He’s known for his big-hitting abilities and must strike a partnership with Sadaqat.
While Loftie-Eaton couldn’t make much of an impact with the bat, so far, the likes of Anil Sah, Sangeeth Cooray, and Sanjay Krishnamurthi will be expected to avoid another collapse and help the Bolts finish with a competitive total.

It will be mostly cloudy in Kirtipur with a high of 16 degrees Celsius around the match time. The humidity can offer some movement through the air for the new-ball bowlers, but there are no signs of rain during the game. We expect a complete and uninterrupted T20 match between the two teams.

It is a balanced wicket that has helped both batters and bowlers in the NPL 2025. The recent games saw teams chasing down 170+ and even posting 200+ totals while batting first. There is enough help on offer for both batters and bowlers, and we expect an even contest between bat and ball. The average first innings score in the last 5 matches at this venue is 149 runs. However, for a match-winning total, the team batting first should aim for something over 170-175 runs in this match.
There isn’t any advantage to either batting or bowling first on this ground, with teams batting first winning 3 of the last 5 matches played here. Though both teams have struggled to post a competitive total while batting first in their recent outings, we reckon they will consider batting first and having runs on the board over chasing a target, given their current batting form.
Karnali Yaks haven’t got many reliable players in either the batting or bowling departments. The lack of form and consistency is a major concern for them. While the Bolts aren’t much better in this regard, they are slightly ahead in the contest with their promising overall squad. Their middle order and the bowling strength give them a slight edge going into this match.
