Tuesday already seems a long time ago when cricket supporters, journalists and players were eagerly awaiting the start of the Australian domestic season, with particular excitement as it is an Ashes year!
The One-Day Cup began with a brilliant contest between New South Wales and Tasmania at Cricket Central with the visitors producing an unbeaten century partnership for the ninth wicket to secure victory.
Queensland then beat Victoria by 55 runs on Wednesday with the two winners of those opening fixtures, meeting in a day-night clash in Brisbane on Friday.
But now, the 2024/25 champions arrive on the scene and all eyes will be on South Australia in Sydney!

New South Wales will need an improvement across their batting order in this game after only three of their players - Kurtis Patterson, Moises Henriques and Tanveer Sangha - made it into double figures against Tasmania!
Patterson was outstanding, hitting 10x fours in his 125-balls 110 at the top of the order, a total which almost made up 50% of his side's total at Cricket Central!
Henriques may push up the order or the team management could show confidence in left-hander Blake Nikitaras alongside Patterson.
With the ball, skipper Sean Abbott, new-ball exponent Ryan Hadley and spinner Tanveer Sangha, all come into this game after taking two wickets each in their defeat against Tasmania.

Six months have passed since South Australia defeated Victoria by 64 runs on the opening day of March earlier this year and Nathan McSweeney lifted the One-Day Cp as a result!
However, as great as that day was for South Australia, it all begins again for them in this match on Saturday and they will need a cross-team performance to get their fixtures off with a win.
With the bat, the likes of Harry Nielsen at the top of the order, skipper Nathan McSweeney at number four, Jake Lehmann and Liam Scott in the middle order, are all likely to be key run scorers.
With the ball, expect Henry Thornton to lead the attack along with the impressive Brendan Doggett and Nathan McAndrew.

According to the forecast, it will be wall to wall sunshine across the day in Sydney. There is no chance of rain and the temperature will be in the low-twenties throughout.
We expect this pitch to play in a similar fashion as it did on Wednesday when 224 all out played 225/8. That means some assistance for all types of bowlers with batters having to be patient and getting in on the surface before starting to feel comfortable.
It looks like being an excellent day for batting in Sydney on Saturday so we predict that both captains will want to bat first when the coin is tossed ahead of the match.
This looks like being a low-scoring clash which could play into New South Wales' advantage as they have got the recent match-practice in. However, we expect the fresher South Australia bowlers, who performed so well last season, to be key and and predicting an away victory!
