Scenarios for the IPL 2026 playoffs gets clearer as the season enters its final few weeks. Next-up is an important match as the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) host Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur. The game will be played on Wednesday, 13 May from 7:30 p.m. local time.
This is a critical match-up in the playoffs race. Royal Challengers Bengaluru is flying high this season looking to retain their crown, winning 7 matches compared to 4 losses this season. Kolkata Knight Riders meanwhile were down and out in the opening 6 games, registering only 1 point due to a washout against Punjab Kings. Since then, they have won the following four games.
This is one of the famous rivalry in the IPL as this was the inaugural match of the tournament back in 2008, which was won by KKR after a spectacular century from Brendon McCullum. So far there have been 36 matches played between the two teams and KKR have won 20 matches while RCB won 15, including a win last season.

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru is the team to beat this season as the defending champions. They are very adamant about retaining the crown and have had a good run of form in the competition so far with 7 wins and 4 losses in 11 matches.
They started the season with 6 wins out of the first 8 games. Then they lost back-to-back against Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants but returned to winning ways in a last ball thriller vs Mumbai Indians.
In Raipur, MI scored 166/7 batting first. RCB were already 39/3 in the powerplay. From there, we saw a gritty display from Krunal Pandya which eventually helped RCB win on the last ball. Pandya scored 73 off 46 balls while battling with cramps and got hit on the body several times.
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru would be hoping to carry the same momentum into the KKR game and get even closer to the playoffs qualification. Virat Kohli as always is the top run scorer for RCB, although not astronomical like previous seasons. He has scored 379 runs in 11 innings at a strike rate of 163.36 and average of 42.11.
Then Devdutt Padikkal and Rajat Patidar are the other batters to cross the 300 mark. Padikkal has scored 328 runs, captain Patidar has been phenomenal in the middle phase of the game, scoring 326 runs at a strike rate of 195.21. He has played several big knocks but his best one is definitely 61 off 31 balls vs LSG where he took his team close to victory.
RCB have used both Phil Salt and Jacob Bethell as opening partners for Virat Kohli with Salt sidelined for a few games. Salt scored 202 in 6 games while Bethell has scored only 70 runs in 5 innings. Expect Salt to be back for this game. Meanwhile Tim David is a menace down the order and scored 232 runs in 10 innings at a strike rate of 196.61.
With the ball, Bhuvneshwar Kumar may be 36, but he is still one of the best bowlers in the country. He has taken 21 wickets so far in IPL 2026, including his best performance of 4/23 vs Mumbai Indians in the last match. He has taken eleven wickets more than the 2nd best blowers Krunal Pandya and Josh Hazlewood, who have both taken 10 wickets each.
Jacob Duffy made that impact in the first three games with 6 wickets but since then he has not been used after Hazlewood returned to the side. Indian domestic pacer Rasikh Salam has contributed with 8 wickets while Suyash Sharma has taken 7 wickets.
Rajat Patidar Total 6's Over 1.5 @ 2.10
Rajat Patidar has hit 30 sixes this season in 11 matches, averaging 2.72 sixes per match. He is a good player against spin and hit's sixes with ease, KKR have three spinners in their ranks who will bowl a total of 12 overs, so it is a favourable match for him in the middle overs and we predict Patidar to hit over 1.5 sixes in today's match.
Devdutt Padikkal Total Runs Over 21.5 @ 1.85
Devdutt Padikkal has scores of 12, 34, 40, 34 and 52 in the last five matches. He is in good form scoring runs consistently for RCB this season and overall he has amassed 328 runs in 10 innings.
Virat Kohli Total Runs Over 31.5 @ 1.85
Kohli has scored two back to back ducks a rare failure for him this season. He has scored 379 runs in 11 matches this season, averaging 42.11. Against KKR he averages 40.84 scoring 1021 runs in 32 matches. We back Kohli to bounce back in today's match and score over 31 runs.
Phil Salt, Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar (C), Jitesh Sharma (WK), Tim David, Krunal Pandya, Romario Shepherd, Rasikh Salam, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Josh Hazlewood, Suyash Sharma. Impact Player: Devdutt Padikkal.

The 2024 champions Kolkata Knight Riders had a horror start to the IPL 2026 season. In the first six games, they failed to win a single game and claimed only 1 point after a rain washout game against Punjab Kings. But then, the Ajinkya Rahane led side won the next four games, registering 9 points going into the game.
KKR began their run of victories with a win against Rajasthan Royals. That was followed by a dominant bowling display in the following games, winning against LSG, SRH and Delhi Capitals.
The Knights registered a 8 wicket win against the Capitals in Delhi. They restricted DC 142/8 with Anukul Roy and Kartik Tyagi taking 2 wickets. Later, although KKR lost 2 wickets for 31 runs, Finn Allen scored a destructive century (100* off 47 balls) to set up the win for Knight in 14.2 overs.
The KKR fans would once again look upto the likes of Finn Allen, Cameron Green and Rinku Singh to deliver with the bat. Allen was dropped from the team for a few matches after a string of low scores, but he bounced back with a century in the last game vs Delhi Capitals, scoring 210 runs in 7 innings.
It was the same case for Green and Rinku. The duo failed to live-up to the expectations, but elite quality players always know how to comeback. Green’s knock of 79 runs vs Gujarat Titans got him back on track and now scored 232 runs in 10 innings. Rinku Singh meanwhile played the match winning knocks of 53* vs Rajasthan and 83* vs Lucknow Super Giants, totalling 237 runs at an average of 59.25.
It is Angkrish Raghuvanshi though who is the top run scorer for KKR in IPL 2026 with 269 runs. He had a solid start to the season and once was top of the orange cap leaderboard. But he has had a string of bad performances which has derailed his campaign.
With Harshit Rana, Akash Deep and Matheesha Pathirana all out due to injury, KKR had the worst bowling attack on paper and didn't do that well in the first six games. But, the Knights now have one of the most in-form bowling attacks with their spin trio of Sunil Narine, Varun Chakravarthy and Anukul Roy all bowling well and taking wickets.
Sunil Narine has 10 wickets at an economy rate of just 6.51. Varun had 2 wickets in the first four matches but took 8 wickets in the next 3 matches and went wicketless vs DC. He suffered a knock on his toe vs SRH and really felt the pain vs DC. Must keep an eye on whether he is available for this game. Anukul Roy meanwhile has taken 8 wickets.
On the pace bowling front, Kartik Tyagi has been the best pace bowler with 13 wickets for pacer making his debut for the side. He has been consistently delivering good numbers every game. Vaibhav Arora has taken 11 wickets although it has been economically expensive.
Matheesha Pathirana has joined Kolkata Knight Riders camp for the IPL 2026 but is yet to feature in a game. Reports say he is still not match fit. But against a batting heavy side like RCB, KKR would definitely think about his inclusion.
Finn Allen Total Runs Over 23.5 @ 1.85
Finn Allen scored his first IPL hundred in the last match against Delhi Capitals in 47 balls to steer KKR to their 4th win of the season. He has scored past 23 runs in the last two matches and is looking in fine touch. We back Allen to carry his good form and score over 23 runs in today's match.
Finn Allen, Ajinkya Rahane (C), Angkrish Raghuvanshi (WK), Cameron Green, Rinku Singh, Tejasvi Dahiya, Anukul Roy, Sunil Narine, Kartik Tyagi, Matheesha Pathirana, Varun Chakravarthy. Impact Player: Vaibhav Arora.

The pitch at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur is generally balanced with a slight batting lean as the game progresses. It offers decent pace, bounce, and carry early on, helping pacers get some movement and seam with the new ball. The surface settles down nicely for stroke-makers, but the very large boundaries make big hitting challenging and reward smart running. Spinners get good grip and turn in the middle overs. Average first-innings score is expected around 170-185.
RCB to win the coin toss @ 1.90
We back RCB to win the coin toss in today's match against KKR.
The captain who wins the toss would ideally like to bowl first. This is only the second game at the venue and the characteristics are still unknown. Whoever bowl first, would like to get accustomed to how the surface plays.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are favorites to beat Kolkata Knight Riders. Defending champions RCB (7-4) are in strong form with explosive batting led by Virat Kohli (379 runs), Rajat Patidar (326 runs, SR 195), and Tim David, plus a bowling attack anchored by Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s 21 wickets. KKR (4 wins in last 5) have momentum and dangerous finishers like Rinku Singh, Green, but remain inconsistent overall.
