Poor weather and a top four with not much change has made the final week of the group stage of the 2024 IPL somewhat calmer and ultimately less entertaining than some of its predecessors. Gone have the 250 plays 255 matches and on have come the super-sopper accompanied by covers with some games not even getting a toss!
But this looks like being a brilliant contest to end the group stage and, dependent on how other results go, could also end up being the Qualifier 1 and maybe even the final as well.
Rajasthan Royals and KKR have been the two teams who have successfully married big hitting with a potent bowling attack in this campaign and this should be another excellent fixture.
Thank goodness for fans, players and management of Rajasthan Royals that they won eight of their first nine games in this year's IPL because from their tenth match onwards, it's all been downhill!
The Royals come into this match after losing successive games against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Capitals, Chennai Super Kings and Punjab Kings. Between coach Kumar Sangakarra and captain Sanju Samson, the team must find a way to regain some confidence ahead of the play-offs.
But that will be easier said than done against an in-form and refreshed KKR, particularly as Rajasthan are without Jos Buttler who has returned to England for T20 World Cup preparations.

Not only have KKR already secured top of the table and a first shot at a place in the final in the Qualifier 1, but they are also ending the group stage in fine form. In fact, the only thing which has been able to stop them recently has been rain which saw their last game washed out without even as much as a toss against Gujarat Titans.
KKR have some imposing players throughout their side with both bat and ball but their undoubted star of the tournament has been all-rounder Sunil Narine who has to be most pundits pick for the Player of the Tournament.
The only slight negative for KKR ahead of this game is the departure of Phil Salt back to England ahead of the T20 World Cup.

The forecast for Sunday afternoon is clear and warm but surrounding that is a regular threat of thunderstorms. It would not be a surprise if this game ended up being reduced in terms of overs per side.
It's a good cricket wicket in Guwahati where the average first inning score is 180. However, Rajasthan Royals were able to post only 144/9 in the last match here and bowlers will certainly have an opportunity to have the upper-hand.
Although two of the three previous IPL matches at this venue have been won by the team batting first, the only game so far in this year's competition has been won by the side fielding first. As a result, we expect both captains to want to bowl first.
Both sides are without a powerful English opener for this match and the rest of the tournament but we expect KKR to be able to deal with the loss of a star batter that bit better. Rajasthan will be competitive and we expect to see them improve from previous showings but we predict KKR to emerge with the victory.
