Two teams who were unable to kick off the 2025/26 Sheffield Shield season with a victory come head to head at the Adelaide Oval this week although both South Australia and Queensland had positive moments in round one.
South Australia won the competition last season so will be desperate to not fall to a second successive defeat after they went down by four wickets against Victoria last week.
And Queensland batted impressively, hitting 612 runs in one innings against Tasmania, in round one, so they will be looking to take the extra steps this week to turn a draw into a win.
Both teams have plenty of talent, but who can come out on top? Read on to hear our tips and predictions.

There were two centurions for South Australia in the first innings against Victoria in Adelaide during round one with opener Henry Hunt and Jake Lehmann at number five both reaching three figures.
However, only keeper-batter Harry Nielsen was able to make a half-century in the third innings of the game and that was ultimately what cost the 2024/25 Champions the chance of winning their opening game.
Lloyd Pope, Hanno Jacobs and Jordan Buckingham were the three bowlers who caught the eye for South Australia and, along with Wes Agar, are likely to cause problems for Queensland's batters in this match.

Although Queensland were unable to secure a victory at home against Tasmania last week, there was some very impressive batting, particularly at the top of their order, in the game.
A top four of Matt Renshaw, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne and Jack Clayton is the envy of all five other states and the quad all delivered at least a half-century in round one.
Renshaw, recently recalled to an international squad, and captain Labuschagne, playing for his place in the Ashes, both made centuries and will both want to show they can back up those innings with a consistent second effort.
With the ball, Michael Neser and Benji Floros come into this game after impressing in both innings against Tasmania.

There may be a little bit of cloud cover on days two, three and four, but overall it will be a hot week in Adelaide. Expect top temperatures of 28 degrees on day two.

The Adelaide Oval continues to deliver a strong batting wicket and a lush outfield which can make bowling tough! Whoever bats first in Adelaide will be looking to make a par score of around 380-400.
The conditions look likely for good batting across all four days so we predict that the teams will want to bat first before taking advantage of a turning and drying wicket on day four.
