After a drawn Test series, hopes were high of a competitive ODI series between West Indies and Bangladesh going into Sunday's opening 50-over contest. And although the hosts eventually won by 5 wickets with 14 balls remaining, there were certainly times when Bangladesh were right in the mix and they will fancy their chances of levelling the series on Tuesday.
If that were to happen then it would setup a grand finale in Basseterre once more on Thursday and there is no doubt how the neutrals would want to see the score ahead of the third game.
This promises to be a fascinating contest in the second ODI of the series. Both sets of players, batters and bowlers alike, will be more used to the conditions which delivered 589 runs and 11 wickets on Sunday.

There were strong performances across the park from West Indies in the series opener but they will all need to be on the money once again in this match if they are to secure the early series win.
Romario Shepherd was the pick of the bowlers, returning figures of 3/51 on Sunday but it was spinner Gudakesh Motie who proved to be the most economical. Bangladesh's batters chose to take few risks against him, playing out his ten overs for only 42 runs and not losing a wicket, but they may be forced into a more attacking approach on a pitch which is now almost 100 overs older!
With the bat, Shai Hope continues to be one of the world's best in this format and Sherfane Rutherford has found that he is brilliant in ODIs. He hit his first century in the format on Sunday and has not failed to hit at least a half-century in each of his last five ODI innings.

Although they were beaten on Sunday, Bangladesh will be convinced that they were not too far away from a winning formula in Basseterre and will relish the opportunity to level the series in this match on Tuesday.
Alongside Jaker Ali's 48 from number seven, there were three half-centurions for Bangladesh in the first ODI and skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who top scored with 74, will be desperate to see someone bring up three figures in this game. All the more remarkable was the fact that Soumy Sarkar and Litton Das, two of their stronger batters in the top three, made only 21 runs between them.
Of the six bowlers used in the first game, only Taskin Ahmed went wicketless but he is a classy operator and most pundits expect him to respond with a big performance in this clash.

The conditions look likely to be very consistent from Tuesday morning through to the early evening conclusion. There will be breaks in the cloud from time to time but mostly it will be sunny with humidity levels up at around 70%.

We saw on Sunday that spin bowlers do need to be treated with respect on this pitch and we expect them to have more of an impact in this ODI. Batters should be able to score quickly when the balls are new but the longer into the innings the tougher we expect clearing the ropes to be.
Although Bangladesh opted to bat first after winning the toss and went on to lose the game, it was only the second time from the last nine ODIs at the venue that the team chasing had won. We predict that both captains will want to bat first.
Those in attendance on Sunday were treated to an excellent game of ODI cricket and we expect to see another riveting contest in this match. Bangladesh may benefit from a bit more wear and turn in the surface, but that should also play into the hands of Gudakesh Motie. We are predicting a close game with West Indies coming out on top to secure the series at the earliest opportunity.
