Delhi Capitals signs back Kevin Pietersen, the cricket legend to return back as a mentor in the franchise. It is for the first time Kevin will fulfil his coaching role in the IPL event.
Avid batter Kevin Pietersen reportedly joins hands with Delhi Capital before the Indian Premier League Season 2025. He is set to mentor the franchise squad for the upcoming thriller clash of cricket amongst the best cricketers globally.
Delhi Capitals Makes an Official Announcement on Instagram
DC flaunted the return of their favorite mentor, Kevin Pietersen back to the team through an Instagram post stating that; tell the world, KP is back home.
- Former batter of Delhi Capitals Franchise is about to join the support staff group as a mentor.
- The other members of the group include head coach Hemang Badani, bowling coach Munaf Patel, and assistant coach Matthew Mott.
- Director of the DC franchise is Venugopal Rao and he confirmed the news to sources.
- Pietersen is excited to begin his coaching journey in IPL for the first time with the long-associated franchise Delhi Capitals.
- 44-year-old Kevin mentioned in a press release that it’s wonderful to bag a new role as the mentor for DC franchise in IPL season 2025.
He seemed eager to collaborate with the squad and will play his best part to enable the team in hitting the victory goals and Trophy.
Pietersen’s Career Highlights and Achievements
Kevin Pietersen has contested for five seasons since 2009 and played for three IPL franchises. It includes the Delhi Capitals (then known as Delhi Daredevils) and was squad captain 17 times.
- Former batter led RCB in the 2009 IPL tournament and then took over captaincy position for Daredevils in 2014 IPL season. The team reached the bottom level securing two wins from14 games in all.
- He also held the captaincy position for England team in 15 internationals also comprising of a two-match Test series in 2008 held in India.
- After attaining the captaincy for Delhi IPL squad in 2014, he also established a personal connection with the Chairman of GMR, Kiran Kumar Grandhi and DC Franchise’s co-owners.
- Last year in September, Kevin helped crack a landmark deal amongst the Hampshire Country cricket club and the GMR.
- Grandhi and Pietersen were also seen together at England’s T20Is Vs Australia at the Utilita Bowl.

In a recent interview, Pietersen unveiled of having innumerable memories related to Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League seasons. He also expressed that he held passion as the broadcaster for the team as well for several years.
Kevin also shared an instance from 2012 IPL season when he shared field with Venugopal Rao and it’s wonderful to associate back as a mentor for the spectacular IPL franchise.
