New Faces From India For Border-Gavaskar Trophy

The new Test season is taking a new turn as we reach the year's end. One of the most thrilling rivalries, Australia vs India, in the form of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, is scheduled to begin on 22nd November.
Border-Gavaskar Trophy has become one of the biggest Test series in the world between two of the most talented cricket teams. The first edition of the series took place in 1996-97 and since then it has become a thrilling red-ball series between the two cricketing giants.

Australia vs India Test Series - New Faces of Team India
BCCI and the selection committee have announced the squad for Team India. There are a few new faces on the team who will be travelling with the team and are expected to turn their fortunes.
1) Washington Sundar
Washington Sundar is not a new name in Indian cricket. However, he has been in and out of the team in the red-ball format. Sundar made his debut in the Test in 2021 but has yet to get much opportunity to play.
During the Test series against New Zealand, Washington Sundar has been an effective spinner. He is the leading wicket-taker for the team 2ith 15 wickets in 3 innings at an average of 13.06.

2) Prasidh Krishna
Prasidh Krishna has been out of action because of his surgery on his left proximal quadriceps tendon. He also missed out on IPL 2024 and some major international tournaments.
However, BCCI has decided to mould him for red-ball cricket. Krishna is known for his pace and accurate line and length. He is an economical bowler who can control the run rate of the opposition at any moment of the game.

3) Abhimanyu Easwaran
Abhimanyu Easwaran is not a new face when it comes to India’s domestic cricket circuit. However, the time has come for him to finally get the reward for his consistent hard work in first-class cricket.
Easwaran will be expected to get his maiden Test cap against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He is an old-school batter who can open a game in the absence of Rohit Sharma on any of the tests.

4) Nitish Kumar Reddy
Nitish Kumar Reddy is an all-rounder who can bowl fast and can score quick runs in the middle order. He is a key player for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL and recently made his debut for team India in the T20i series against Bangladesh.
He has a proven record in first-class cricket and skipper Rohit Sharma might use him in one of the Tests against Australia.

5) Harshit Rana
Among all the new faces on the team, Harshit Rana has the least experience and it is a surprise that BCCI and the selection committee have chosen him for a crucial series like Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Harshit Made headlines with his performance in the recently held Duleep Trophy. He was also part of the Kolkata Knight Riders team in IPL 2024.
