It's a battle between proven experience and exuberant style of cricket, promising a thrilling clash for T20 World Cup fans. Australia have already qualified to the next stage on the back of three back to back wins, and the result of this contest doesn’t really matter much.
Standing in their way is a determined Scotland side. And they’ve a lot riding on this clash: a berth in the Super 8’s. Both teams put on a strong show in their last match, chasing down the respective targets pretty quickly. Australia cantered to victory against Namibia before end of powerplay, and Scotland wrapped up their chase of 150 inside 14 overs to get a huge NRR boost. But that didn't last long as England blew Oman out of the water to soar above their neighbours Scotland on NRR.
And this is what it has come down to: Scotland have to find a way to defeat Australia if they are to progress to the next round. Given the brand of cricket they’re playing in this tournament, they’ll come all guns blazing to cause an upset.
Forget about the early hiccups in their first match against Oman – Australia are a juggernaut right now. Their convincing win over arch-rivals England and the ruthless dismantling of Namibia showcased a team in complete control. Consistent batting from top to bottom and a potent bowling attack have Australia firing on all cylinders. Their batting has been explosive, with openers firing and the middle order providing stability.
The bowling attack, boasting experience and firepower, has choked opponents, and picked up wickets at crucial junctures. Captain Mitchell Marsh will be hoping to maintain this dominance and secure a strong position going into the Super 8s. David Warner, hungry as ever for scoring some crucial top order runs, could take the attack to Scottish bowlers with his experience and explosiveness.
And partnering him will be Travis Head, who's been in red-hot form for a few seasons now. He's striking a boundary every 3.2 balls this tournament, and with him in such red-hot form, Aussies can take the game away from Scotland quickly. As far as bowling is concerned, all bowlers are in good nick but Adam Zampa, with his crafty leg-spin, is on a whole new level.
He’ll be determined to restrict Scotland's scoring in the middle overs and pick up some wickets as well.

A win against the rampant Aussies would be a historic moment for Scottish cricket, and it would knock the defending champions England out of the World Cup.
Unbeaten in the tournament so far, Scotland has defied expectations with thrilling chases against Oman and Namibia. They even started brightly against England, scoring 90 runs in the powerplay before rain intervened.
Their batting, led by the aggressive George Munsey, has been electric to say the least. His partner Michael Jones doesn’t believe in taking time to build an innings either, and has done extremely well to get Scotland off to a flying start in the games so far. With Brandon McMullen, Richie Berrington, Matthew Cross and Michael Leask fit and firing, the Scots will be up for a contest against the Aussie quicks.
Their bowling attack, though lacking big names, has shown grit and determination. They don’t have any bowler operating at express pace. Neither do they have a mystery spinner in their ranks. But their balanced bowling group has done well to restrict oppositions to a manageable total that their batsmen are comfortable tracking down.
The experienced Brad Wheal, with four wickets in two games so far, complements the sheer pace of Chris Sole and the deception that Mark Watt is known for, and that gives Scotland a variety of options to dismantle the opposition batting.

The decks here are good for batting, but batsmen need to take full advantage of the first few overs when there’s fielding restrictions in place and the ball is rock hard. Scoring runs at a quick pace during the middle overs might not be easy. Spinners and medium pacers who can take the pace off have done well at this ground in general. The weather forecast for this game is looking positive, and we should have a complete match without any interruption if the forecast holds good.

This match will be held at the Daren Sammy Stadium in Gros Islet, St Lucia. Australia have played 9 matches at this venue, going back to 2010 when Michael Hussey pulled off a miracle victory in a World Cup game against Pakistan against all odds. Scotland have yet to play a game here.
Batting first gives teams a distinct advantage here, as we found out in the Australia vs West Indies T20 series here in 2021, when the team batting first claimed victories in four out of five matches.
Australia are clear favourites to win this game, but Scotland may make things interesting and run the Aussies close if they play to their potential. But, Australia should take the win comfortably anyway.
We are backing Australia as winners of this contest.
