Australian superstars Hobart Hurricanes started their campaign with a bang, taking down Dubai Capitals by seven wickets as they chased a target of 142 in just 17 overs.
It was a polished performance by the Hurricanes, with the batting and bowling units both delivering excellent results.
In the batting department, Macalister Wright (50 off 47) and Ben McDermott (48 off 24) did much of the legwork to polish off the target. These two are among the most reliable batters of the team and will be expected to carry the batting unit in the matches ahead.
Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Jake Doran are also steady batsmen who can anchor the innings on this pitch.
Hobart’s bowling looks solid, with plenty of variety and depth. Billy Stanlake and Jackson Bird are capable new-ball bowlers and can provide early strikes. Mohammad Nabi and Fabian Allen, both of whom took three wickets apiece in the opening match, are excellent for these conditions and will pose a challenge to Rangpur’s batters as well.

Defending champions Rangpur Riders have started on a winning note, by defeating local stars Guyana Amazon Warriors by eight runs in their opening fixture. It was a thrilling contest, where Rangpur’s bowlers put on a terrific show to bowl out Guyana for 154 in their chase of 162.
Soumya Sarkar (35 off 36) and Kyle Mayers (44* off 31) were the stars of the batting unit in the first game and will have important roles to play in this fixture as well. Soumya, who finished as Rangpur’s highest scorer last season, is well used to these conditions and will hold one end up.
Lower down, they also have capable batters in Yasir Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed, and Nurul Hasan, who can each make an impact if they get set.
As for the bowling, Khaled Ahmed will be the one to watch out for again. In the first game, the seamer’s spell of 4-36 broke Guyana’s back, and he seems to be relishing this surface.
Wrist spinner Tabraiz Shams, along with Azmatullah Omarzai, both of whom took two wickets each in the season opener, are also reliable picks as they can strangle batters during the middle overs.

There’s usually some grip at Providence Stadium, which can help the slower bowlers. Batters often need a few balls to settle in before trying to go big. If the pitch holds up, timing clean shots becomes tricky. Pace bowlers who take the speed off usually get better returns.
The forecast in Guyana points to partly cloudy conditions with a slight chance of rain in the early part of the day.

Providence Stadium usually sees first-innings scores around 151. From what we have seen in all the matches in the Global Super League 2025 so far, something in the 170 range will put pressure on the side chasing under these conditions.
In three of the four Global Super League 2025 matches held at Providence Stadium, the team batting first ended up winning. The trend clearly shows that batting first is more beneficial here.
Hobart Hurricanes versus Rangpur Riders promises to be a thrilling contest as both teams look sharp and are coming off confident wins. Hobart, however, rely heavily on their top-order, and if they fail, they might struggle. Rangpur, on the other hand, don’t have many star players, but they seem to have the right ones for these conditions. We reckon the defending champions have the edge in the clash due to their better bowling attack
