Pakistan will be out to secure their place in the Super 8 against Namibia in match number 35 of the T20I World Cup 2026. The match will be played at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo on 18 February, from 3 p.m. local time.
Pakistan once again suffered a defeat against their arch-rival India and now finds themselves in a situation where a win or at least a point is a must to qualify for the Super 8. Namibia, on the other hand, is already out of the reckoning, having lost all three of their matches in the tournament.
Pakistan has a star-studded squad but hasn't delivered the same performance on the pitch, particularly the batters. On the bowling front they have been very good. Namibia, on the other hand, has had a difficult campaign; only three batters have stood out, while with the ball, only Gerhard Erasmus has done anything extraordinary. Pakistan will start this contest on the front foot.

Pakistan are under huge pressure after another tough loss to arch-rivals India in their last match, a 61-run defeat chasing 176, getting bundled out for 114. The Men in Green have struggled badly so far, and this next game is a must-win to book their place in the Super Eight stage.
Batting has been a big worry. Opener Sahibzada Farhan is the top scorer for the side with 120 runs in the tournament, but he got a duck against India in the last match. His opening partner, Saim Ayub, has scored only 49 runs at the top, seriously not up to the mark.
Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam has disappointed with just 66 runs total in the tournament; his best was 46 runs off 32 balls vs the USA. Otherwise, he has been hugely disappointing. Shadab Khan chipped in with 52 down the order, and Usman Khan scored 44 runs, but Captain Salman Ali Agha’s form is worrisome. He has scored only 17 in 3 matches. The top and middle need to fire urgently.
Bowling has been a total team effort with no real standout, but 6 bowlers have taken 3 or more wickets. Saim Ayub is now the top wicket-taker for the Men in Green after his 3/25 vs India, taking his total wickets tally to 5.
Usman Tariq has taken 4 wickets and could only take 1 wicket vs India after all the hype. Meanwhile, star pace bowler Shaheen Afridi has taken only 3 wickets and has been expensive, conceding at over an 11 economy rate. They need better control and early breakthroughs.
Pakistan has talent and experience, but form is low. If the openers give a solid start and bowlers tighten up, they can bounce back. But right now, it's do-or-die.
Saim Ayub has scores of 6, 19, 24, 56 and 23 in the last five T20I's played. He has had a lean patch over the last three matches and will look to bounce back in an all important clash against Namibia on a good batting track. We predict Ayub to score over 22 runs and provide a quick fire start to Pakistan at the top of the order.
Sahibzada Farhan was dismissed for a duck in the last match against India, a rare failure for him this world cup. In two of the last three matches he has scored past 30 runs and is also the leading run-scorer for Pakistan this World Cup. With this being a do or die match, we back Farhan to step up and predict his score to be over 24 runs.

Namibia picked up their third straight loss in the T20 World Cup 2026 in their last match against the USA. As a result, they have already been eliminated from the Super 8 qualification.
It's been a decent campaign for Namibia to be proud of. Their top order has been solid, led by Louren Steenkamp who tops the team's run chart with 93 runs in 3 innings. He delivered a stunning performance in the last match against USA as he scored 58 runs off 39 balls but couldn't take his team over the line.
Nicol Loftie-Eaton follows closely with 83 runs for the 24-year-old, and all-rounder Jan Frylinck has been brilliant too as he scored 71 runs, showcasing a decent batting quality.
JJ Smit and Gerhard Erasmus have let us down though. Smit has scored 53 runs in 3 matches while Captain Erasmus has scored only 42 runs.
But Erasmus has made amends with his bowling performance. The 30-year-old has taken 6 wickets in 3 matches including a fantastic 4/20 vs India and bagged 2 further wickets vs the USA in their last match. But other than him, it has been a lacklustre performance from other bowlers. Willem Myburgh and Bernard Scholtz have taken 2 wickets each.
Loureen Steenkamp, Jan Frylinck, Nicol Loftie-Eaton, Gerhard Erasmus (C), JJ Smit, Zane Green (WK), Ruben Trumpelmann, Dylan Leicher, Willem Myburgh, Bernard Scholtz, Max Heingo.

The weather forecast on February 18 in Colombo suggests there is a 40-50% chance of rain, with clouds looming over the sky throughout the day. The temperature is expected to be around 28-27°C with a 70% probability of precipitation for the day. So the threat of rain cannot be completely overlooked.
The Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo offers a balanced surface for T20 cricket. Initially, there is movement available with true bounce, making it easy to score runs. But, once the new ball shine fades away, it offers more turn and grip for the spin bowlers. It will be important for the batters to not play risky shots, as there will be scoring opportunities.
The average first-inning score at the venue is 168 after 6 T20I matches played at the venue. Ireland in the previous match scored the highest total at the venue, 235 runs, while the lowest score here is 103.
We back Pakistan to win the coin toss in today's match against Namibia.
There is no significant advantage at the venue. However, given the nature of the surface, when it tends to get better for the spinners as the game progresses, it would be wise to bat first and put a good total on the board and then defend it. In fact, the last two matches at the venue have been won by the side batting first.
Pakistan are strong favourites against Namibia in this must-win game. Despite recent struggles, they have big names like Babar Azam, Sahibzada Farhan (120 runs), and Shaheen Afridi. Namibia fought well with Louren Steenkamp (93 runs) and Gerhard Erasmus (6 wickets), but three losses mean that they are already out. Pakistan's experience and talent should win easily.
Pakistan to win against Namibia.
