A win in this sudden-death knockout match will take them one step closer to the title this season. The winning team will go on to face either Brisbane Heat or Sydney Sixers in the challenger, and the losing team will pack their bags and go home wondering what went wrong.
The Scorchers will be a bit disappointed at conceding the double chance to the Sixers, who got home in the final delivery of their chase the other night. But, the Scorchers have a different challenge waiting for them at home. And it should be a ripper of a contest: the home team will be hoping to stave off back to back defeats in the Big Bash for the first time in three years.
As for Adelaide Strikers, they’ll come into the match high on confidence having secured a victory over the Scorchers at the Adelaide Oval two weeks back, and will be looking to repeat that feat.

The finish to the league stage matches at home wasn’t ideal for the Scorchers. They knocked over Brisbane Heat to make sure they didn’t go through to qualifier unscathed, but lost to the Sixers in a nail biter, which also ended their nine-game winning streak here.
They’re a bit short on staff and have to dig deep to find some local talent for this crucial knockout match. They lost captain Ashton Turner early on and fast bowler Jhye Richardson in the second half to injury, in-form English batsman Laurie Evans to the ILT20 and Zak Crawley for his national commitment, and are sweating anxiously on the fitness of their stand-in English opener Stephen Eskinazi.
But they’ve got plenty of positives to shift their attention to. Cooper Connolly, the hero in last season’s BBL finale, is finally finding his stride lower down the order at a position he has always been comfortable batting, with two handy knocks of 35 and 37 not out in the last two games. The big Dorff (Jason Behrendorff) is in good touch and right up there among the best bowlers of the tournament this season with 15 wickets.

Adelaide Strikers have been able to come as far, thanks to captain Matthew Short’s significant contribution with the bat and with the ball. Having scored over 450 runs three times in a row, he is brimming with confidence.
Under his inspiring captaincy, the Strikers have won four on the bounce and are looking good to add three more wins to the tally so they can take out the title. His starts with the bat have been instrumental in Strikers’ winning as many matches, but he is not doing it all alone. He has found an able partner in the other Short (D’Arcy) and if both of them find some form, they can take the game away from the Scorchers. Jake Weatherald, who slotted in at no.3 for an injured Chris Lynn, has grabbed his second opportunity with both hands.
With vital contributions with the bat in the last 2 games, he has clearly put behind a sluggish start to BBL13 and a poor season last year. The Strikers would have loved to have magician Rashid Khan now, but Cameron Boyce, a leggie himself, has been really miserly this season, particularly in the last three games where his economy rate is a stingy 4.17. A pacy wicket like Perth may not suit his bowling much, but he’ll be a vital cog in the wheel for their bowling attack.

Generally a pace paradise, the strip here has been nothing but a batting paradise this term. Batsmen get good value for their shots here, as we found out during the match between the Scorchers and the Sixers. If the predictions are anything to go by, conditions are nice and warm on game day so it should be a cracker of a contest.

Minimal TurnThe Perth Stadium also known as the Optus Stadium will host this match. The home team has made it into a fortress, which the Sixers sort of breached with a thrilling last ball win. The Scorchers have a clear edge over the Strikers at this venue, having won 3 games and lost only once.
Perth Scorchers know their chances of winning a knockout match go up when they bat first and put a massive total on board. We won’t be surprised if they decide to bat first on winning the flip.
Both teams are missing some key players and their composition is going to be quite different for this match. But we reckon the Perth Scorchers will be far more better equipped than the Strikers to take this win and get one step closer to the finals.
We are backing Perth Scorchers as the winners of this contest.
