Sydney Sixers will be facing the Melbourne Stars in their 3rd home game of the season as they eye a 4th straight win. Their recent win at the SCG against Adelaide Strikers was particularly impressive as they defended a 155-run total and won by just 1 run.
Melbourne Stars, on the other hand, are struggling big time. In the first two games they were bowled out cheaply and in the third, though they bounced back with the bat, the bowlers failed to defend the total.
As they come to SCG, Maxwell, and Stoinis will be expected to live up to the expectations. If the two don’t find their form soon enough, it could hurt MLS going ahead in the league.
They have a huge challenge waiting for them in Sydney with Jackon Bird, Tom Curran, and Ben Dwarshuis along with others in the Sixers’ lineup delivering consistently with the ball.

Sydney Sixers are on a roll with 3 back to back wins. They should be pretty confident in securing the 4th too. The visitors aren’t in the best shape with some of their key players in both departments struggling to deliver.
Sixers have got their bowlers in great form. They aren’t dependent on any particular player. If Ben Dwarshuis fails, there is Jackson Bird to come in and deliver a breakthrough.
And if neither works on the given day, Tom Curran and Jack Edwards would do the job. There are many bowling options for Moises Henriques in both the pace and spin departments. However, he will be hoping for a better outing with the bat.
Jordan Silk’s unbeaten 66 in the last game helped Sydney Sixers reach 155 while the rest of the batters failed to get going. Josh Philippe and James Vince in particular are struggling to get off to a good start in the top order.
That will be a big concern for the Sixers as it affects their powerplay performance. Daniel Hughes at number 3 followed by skipper Henriques and Silk will be crucial in the middle-order.
Whether the Sixers finish on a high will depend on the performance of these three batters. While they also have Jack Edwards in the lower order capable of a few good strokes at the back end, Vince must find his form if the Sixers are to continue their winning run.

Melbourne Stars are in search of their first win of the season. And they need a much better performance with both bat and ball. Though the batters managed a comeback in the last game taking the Stars to 172 runs, the bowlers failed to restrict Sydney Thunder.
While Sam Harper and Thomas Rogers continued to fail at the top, Beau Webster and Glenn Maxwell got going in the middle order building a 69-run partnership for the 3rd wicket.
Hilton Cartwright got off to a great start with 22 off 11 balls but failed to finish the innings for the side. There are some good signs in this lineup but there is still a lot of room for improvement.
The batting lineup is deep with Jonathan Merlo and Liam Dawson coming at number 7 and 8. Nevertheless, it will not be a tough challenge for MLS as they face the Sixers at the SCG.
The opposition is on a winning streak and their bowlers are all in good touch. Maxwell and Stoinis will be the key players and if the two are out cheaply, Stars will be less likely to finish with a competitive total.
The bowling attack features some very promising players like Haris Rauf, Mark Steketee, and Liam Dawson. However, they haven’t been consistent of late and others like Usama Mir and Beau Webster will be expected to step up and deliver.

It is a good batting pitch where the spinners can find some help. It hasn’t got a great pace or bounce in it but offers turn when it gets old. Spinners have been quite successful in the two BBL games played here so far.
Light thunderstorms and rain are expected on the match day in Sydney. It could be a rain-affected game with DLS coming into play, and that can affect the decision taken by the captain at the toss.

Minimal TurnSydney Cricket Ground in Sydney will host this clash between Sydney Sixers and Melbourne Stars. It will be the 3rd BBL match at this venue this season. It looks like a 175+ runs venue when batting first. We reckon anything above that should be a match-winning score in this game.
It doesn’t look easy to chase down a total here and though SYS won by a close margin while defending here, batting first will still be the right option. So far the two visiting sides have opted to bowl first on this ground and the Stars might break that trend if they win the toss.
Sydney Sixers are going from strength to strength with all their key bowlers in good touch. Stars are coming here with many boxes to be checked. They lack consistency and haven’t got their two-star players in good touch. It won’t take long for Maxwell to find his rhythm and hit the big score. But as of now, it looks like the Sixers have a slight edge over the Stars and hence, will start as favorites in our match prediction.
